Music executives are taking the cue to Speak Now about Taylor Swift’s new album. The album, which is due to be released on October 25th, may still be a few months away but is already a hot topic in Hollywood.
Some industry insiders think Speak Now could sell more than one million in its first week!
But is it too big of a stretch. Lil Wayne’s’ Tha Carter III sold slightly more than one million units in its first week in June, while Eminem’s Recovery debuted with 741,000 units in it’s first week. Taylor, who is easily country music’s biggest star, has the potential to do something in between Eminem and Lil Wayne.
The CEO from Red Light Management added, “It feels like if anybody can do it now, she could be the one. She has the sales base and heat from the last few albums. And with all the amazing things she has going on, she is as likely as anybody to reach a million units, especially with the efforts of Big Machine and Universal behind her.”
We’re told Universal Music Group Distribution plans to ship 1.5 million units for street date and is projecting first-week sales of 750,000.
