A lot of people (such as myself) would kill to get paid to wear Abercrombie & Fitch clothing. However, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino from Jersey Shore is getting paid by the company to do the opposite. A&F released a news release saying that the cast of the popular MTV reality show wearing its clothes could cause “significant damage” to their image. The company believes that the shows cast members (specifically The Situation) wearing its clothes could turn away potential customers from the brand.
According to The Associated Press, the retailer offered a “substantial payment” to The Situation and the producers of Jersey Shore to no longer wear their clothing. The company also plans to make offers to the rest of the cast.
As an avid shopper at A&F I would wear the brand no matter what talentless reality stars choose to shop at the store. Do you think the cast of Jersey Shore is hurting Abercrombie’s “preppy” reputation?
