Adapting a book for the big screen is never an easy task. As a result, the Twilight Saga has arguably done a good job thus far. However, Breaking Dawn easily poses the biggest problems.
The book has a lot of adult themes, is considerably longer than the other books and has multiple points of view. This is something that producer Wyck Godfrey addressed in an interview with USA Today.
Godfrey remarked about the division between part one and two in the film series, “We basically want to take the audience through the emotional part of Bella’s journey as she becomes a vampire. The first part will cover the wedding, the honeymoon and the birth. The film ends just before she embarks on her supernatural transformation.”
He concluded, “We need to progress and be more sophisticated.”
Breaking Dawn Part 1 arrives in theaters November 11, 2011 and Part 2 is slated for November 16, 2012.
