Car accidents are the number one killer of teens, and in 2008, the highest number of teen deaths caused by crashes happened during August.
Consequently, teen celebrities are taking the initiative to help raise awareness on the serious issue. Glee’s Lea Michele, for one, has focused on the importance of wearing seatbelts while a singer like Jordin Sparks has combated texting and driving.
Lea reminded the demographic, “(I) saw a very intense car accident today, everyone was alright, thanks to seat belts. Please remember to always wear them.”
Make It or Break It’s Josie Loren recently added in a sincere Tweet, “Got in a car accident and totaled my car this morning.” Later, Josie showed her appreciation for her followers concern by saying, “Thank u all 4 the love! Thankfully, I’m fine. But honestly, I wouldn’t be if I hadn’t been wearing my seat belt, so buckle up! Saved me today.”
