Chani Christie is an incredible young woman that has already managed to enjoy a thriving career as an artist, author, producer, model and actress despite ONLY being 17 years-old.
In addition to all-of-the-above, Christie is also an United States Youth Ambassador for HIV/Aids Awareness and YMCA Youth Spokesperson. Oh yeah, and she will also represent the city of Los Angeles in the 2012 Miss USA Beauty Pageant.
Pretty amazing, right?
In the next couple of weeks we’ll have more on Chani, but first we wanted to start with her music. Her sophomore album, Lyrics and Lipstick, was released on February 14 and includes the single “Down” (featuring IRocc).
Check out what she had to say about Lyrics and Lipstick…
Her love for music: “Ever since I was little I was singing. I had the privilege of growing up with my Grandmother around me 24/7 and she just played old greats – Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion.”
Managing a career as an entertainer: “I don’t wake up in the morning only dreaming about singing or only thinking about acting. It’s kind of everything. My mind is always wired. I just think that is how artistic people are, there mind is always going a hundred miles an hour.”
First album, ‘My Dream’: “On my 14th birthday I went into the studio and started recording. A year later, the same exact day one year later, I released my first album – which was just any singer’s dream.”
Transition from ‘My Dream’ to ‘Lyrics and Lipstick’: ”With My Dream I was really new. I was new to music; I had no idea what I was doing. So when I was going to the studio, going to a photo shoot I let the professionals do what they knew how to do best. So with Lyrics and Lipstick I was able to come in and be more involved and voice my opinion. That just came with the wisdom and experience that I had with the first album. It came with age.”
Favorite song from ‘Lyrics and Lipstick’: “The Hardest Part”. I didn’t write the song, I co-wrote the song with Bobby Tinsley, who produced the entire album. I sat down and told him what I was going through. I know so many girls and even some boys know what I’m talking about with the song, they feel the same way.”
Why people should get the new album: “I think people should go and buy the album because it talks about everything that a person can possibly go through. It talks about love and happiness. It has everything.”
