In all honesty, the conclusion of Pirates of the Caribbean 3 left most NOT wanting another sequel as the third installment just came across as too confusing and too predictable.
So when actor Johnny Depp vowed recently to bring a certain “freshness” to the next film in the popular series he knew that a few skeptics would remain.
The actor has made Captain Jack Sparrow famous and promises in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides that the plot will be far less convoluted than its predecessors.
“The things with Pirates 4, I felt like we owed it to people…You know? Pirates 2 and 3 became quite…sub-plotty,” Depp admitted. “The mathematics of it.”
“All these people went to see them two or three times just to figure out what was happening. This one is a little closer in tone to the first: more character driven…more subject driven. It has a freshness…less mathematics.”
