Selena Gomez, 19, recently expressed her interest in branching out into more adult film roles, but her lead role in the upcoming movie The Sky is Everywhere isn’t really helping her reach her goal. According to Deadline.com, Selena has signed on to play 17-year-old Lennie Walker in the film adaptation of the book of the same name.

The character Selena is playing is a band geek and is a major fan of reading. When her older sister dies, Lennie’s life is turned upside down and she is forced to grow up fast and help keep the family afloat.

While I think the movie has the potential to be good, I do not think it is the movie that Selena should be starring in at this point in her career. She should follow her friend Vanessa Hudgens’ example and audition for my adult oriented films.

The success of The Twilight Saga has made other vampire series, such as The Vampire Diaries and True Blood, extremely popular. Nina Dobrev is a product of that success because she stars as Elena Gilbert, an every day mortal, on The Vampire Diaries. Now the 23 year-old is ready to venture into movies and take on more aggressive roles.

“I want to become a different person,” she told Nylon. “I want to be a punk or a sweetheart or a drug addict! There are so many things to explore… Sometimes they’ll be like, ‘She’s not plain enough.’ Or ‘She’s not edgy enough.’ That frustrates me. I feel like a blank canvas, and I wish people would be a little more open-minded.”

As of now Nina isn’t exactly an A-list actress, but perhaps if she gets a chance to play a drug addict in a major film people will slowly begin to use her name in every day conversations.

Selena Gomez loves her fans so much that she gave them the task of choosing the scent of her debut fragrance. The winning scents were revealed on selenagomezperfumes.com – with raspberries as the top note, purple freesia as the heart note, and vanilla as the base note.

It will be interesting to see if Selena’s fragrance is as popular as her boyfriend Justin Bieber’s fragrance, which is also sold at Macy’s. His perfume ‘Someday’ broke Macy’s sales records.

Fans of The Twilight Saga should jump for joy after reading this! There is a very strong possibility that the film series is not over, and that we haven’t seen the last of the characters. Jon Feltheimer, CEO of Lions Gate Entertainment, recently revealed to the Los Angeles Times that he is very interested in expanding the series.

“It’s hard for me to imagine a movie that does $700 million-plus doesn’t have ongoing value,” he said. “It’s an amazing franchise that they have done a great job of maintaining with absolutely no deterioration. So the simple answer is ‘Boy I hope so.’”

When asked if there may be a TV series in the future, Jon responded “I would certainly hope so”. I think a Twilight TV series would be a huge success. The only thing bad about it is that the stars of the film series more than likely wouldn’t be reprising their roles in the TV series.

Contrary to what the headline may have led you to believe, Kristen Stewart is not the face of perfume – but she is the face of a very prestigious women’s fragrance. The 21 year-old is the inspiration for a new scent by Balenciaga.

“Balenciaga has always stood out to me,” Kristen told Women’s Wear Daily. “Even when I first began to consider fashion and admittedly rarely knew the brand I was wearing, I always recognized and loved Balenciaga. It feels full circle to be involved with something that spoke to me then and of course continues to excite me now. The brand is just cool. That’s the way it is. I feel drawn to it. It provokes on a number of levels. It isn’t afraid or contrived. It hits a very cool balance, always. Always pretty undeniable.”

Perhaps the company sought after Kristen for their new scent so that they can attract a younger demographic of customers. The fragrance is yet to be named, but it will hit stores this fall.

From radio to TV, Lauren de Miranda is becoming a force to be reckoned with. The talented 23 year-old singer has had her music featured on MTV’s hit reality show The Hills, as well as the number one online video game, Audition. Born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Lauren moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting at the age of eighteen. Check out Teen Chive’s exclusive Q&A with her below.

Q: What inspired you to become a singer?

A: I have always been moved by music. From the age of two, I was trained in ballet where I was exposed to classical music. Learning to express myself through movement to instrumentation became engrained in me. As I got older I began listening closely to lyrics of popular music and discovered how poetic it was. Music can change a person’s mood. It is very powerful! I write my story and sing to express myself and to move others.

Q: You’re currently an independent artist – have you made any progress toward getting a record deal?

A: Originally I wanted a major record deal but I am beginning to see things differently. As an independent artist I have landed myself on the radio, on television and opening for major acts like Gavin DeGraw. I am currently looking to involve an investor or independent label to help me in my pursuit. The music business is really changing.

Q: What singer(s) do you think your style is most similar to?

A: I don’t think I sound much like anyone out there but style wise I would be put in a category of a Kelly Clarkson or a Demi Lavato. I am a lil rocker chic. I like writing guitar driven tracks with live drums as opposed to some of the dance pop out there.

Q: Was moving from Arkansas to California a big transition for you?

A: Yes. I was raised with Southern hospitality and felt a little overwhelmed at first in LA. People are definitely moving faster and there are a lot more of them. [Laughter]

Q: I’ve read that you’ve gotten into acting. What roles have you had so far and how did you get into the acting industry?

A: I have been blessed to be on a lot of hit television shows but only in non speaking roles so far. I am a regular on the show Happy Endings. I work in the bar they go to every episode. I have also appeared on Glee, The Big Bang Theory, Castle, CSI Miami, Ringer, The Heart of Dixie, The Young and the Restless, Raising Hope and Disney’s new show Austin and Ally. Probably a few more I can’t remember.

Q: Do you think you have a future in acting?

A: I love being on set and learning right now. My first role I ever booked was the lead in a horror film. I had to carry the movie from beginning to end and most people that have seen it think I did a really good job. I have a natural flare for the dramatic and I am working on my comedic chops. There is a lot of luck and who you know in this business so I really don’t know if I will make a career out of it but I enjoy it and am meeting some great people to get started with!

Q: What famous people have you met? Who stands out to you the most?

A: I have met quite a few being on set a lot. Because I am a regular on Happy Endings I really like the cast of that show! Damon Wayans Jr has been so nice to me. Elisha Cuthbert is really fun to watch and the whole gang is just great to work with (Eliza Coupe, Zachary Knighton, Adam Pally and Casey Wilson). I really enjoyed meeting David Duchovny. He is a great actor. But for the most part, everyone has been great. I guess I have also most enjoyed the musicians I have met on music videos. I was in a Lifehouse video and loved those guys! Also, it was fun working with Enrique Iglesias.

Q: If you could date a celebrity, who would it be?

A: Well, I am dating a singer who is about to release his first album and he is amazing, so I am pretty sure I will be as soon as you guys hear his music.

Q: How has your life changed since the last time I interviewed you, two years ago?

A: My life has changed a lot. Living in LA has provided me a lot more opportunities to get involved in the entertainment industry. My daily life is working on popular TV shows, music videos or my own music. It is a lot of fun but I do miss home sometimes.

Q: What important question did I forget to ask you?

Kris Humphries is obviously not a fan of his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, or her family’s many reality shows. People close to the New Jersey Nets player say he doesn’t watch Kourtney and Kim Take New York, although the show centers around the couple’s former relationship.

“Kris does not watch the show at all,” a source told HollywoodLife. “He knows that it would make him upset because the show is going to be presented one way only, to the benefit of Kim. He is solely focused on his health and basketball. He has been hampered with a shoulder injury this season that has made him him miss a few games.”

I find it very hard to believe that Kris has never tuned in to see at least a glimpse of himself on TV. The source went on to say “Family and friends watch the show and tell him all about it,” and that “Kris is aware of the happenings on the show”. Which probably means that he secretly tunes in every now and then.

It’s not often we hear Justin Bieber address his naysayers, but now he is speaking his mind. The 17 year-old teen star pledges not to let hater’s drag him down.

“Now that I’m on top, everyone wants to bring me down,” he told V magazine. “Everyone’s trying to tug at me and take my spot. Like Floyd Mayweather, he’s the best boxer in the world. Now he is a champion. Every time he goes to a fight now, people are like, ‘He’s going to lose this time.’”

It’s possible that Justin Bieber is referencing Mariah Yeater, the 20 year-old woman who claims he is the father of her son, when he talks about people wanting to bring him down. Other than her, there are plenty of guys in the world who would love for him and Selena Gomez to break up.

Say it isn’t so! Ever since landing a recording contract with Hollywood Records in 2009, Selena Gomez & The Scene have been creating popular dance-themed songs and have released three albums. Now their success may be coming to an end as Selena Gomez, 19, has announced that the group is taking a break.

“We’re going to take a break from music,” Selena told E! News. “My band and I are going to chill on that for a second. I’ll be doing two films in the beginning of [2012], which I’m excited about. They are both different and things I’ve never played before.”

This is very shocking, considering just yesterday Selena revealed that she would like to “grow” with her music. However, she also said she would like to be a part of a TV sitcom – similar to Friends. Maybe Selena decided to take a break from music so that she can focus on being a better actress.

Although Selena Gomez, 19, is busy with a career in music and film – and is living like a rock star alongside her boyfriend Justin Bieber – she still wants more. In addition to being taken more seriously as an actress in films, Selena would like to return to television someday and be apart of another sitcom.

“Working on Wizards made me realize what an impact a weekly show can have on building support for you as an artist,” Selena told Toronto.com. “I’d love to be part of another ensemble series, something contemporary and kooky and funny and a bit romantic. Like Friends was back when it started.”

Selena Gomez rose to fame for headlining her own sitcom, Wizards of Waverly Place, and then became increasingly popular with her music. She also told the website that music is something she will always take very seriously.

“I’d like to grow with my music,” Selena revealed. “It’s really a passion of mine. I want to have fun with it and make my fans happy with what I sing. I love it and want it to be a part of my life forever.”
