Say it isn’t so! Ever since landing a recording contract with Hollywood Records in 2009, Selena Gomez & The Scene have been creating popular dance-themed songs and have released three albums. Now their success may be coming to an end as Selena Gomez, 19, has announced that the group is taking a break.

“We’re going to take a break from music,” Selena told E! News. “My band and I are going to chill on that for a second. I’ll be doing two films in the beginning of [2012], which I’m excited about. They are both different and things I’ve never played before.”

This is very shocking, considering just yesterday Selena revealed that she would like to “grow” with her music. However, she also said she would like to be a part of a TV sitcom – similar to Friends. Maybe Selena decided to take a break from music so that she can focus on being a better actress.

Although Selena Gomez, 19, is busy with a career in music and film – and is living like a rock star alongside her boyfriend Justin Bieber – she still wants more. In addition to being taken more seriously as an actress in films, Selena would like to return to television someday and be apart of another sitcom.

“Working on Wizards made me realize what an impact a weekly show can have on building support for you as an artist,” Selena told Toronto.com. “I’d love to be part of another ensemble series, something contemporary and kooky and funny and a bit romantic. Like Friends was back when it started.”

Selena Gomez rose to fame for headlining her own sitcom, Wizards of Waverly Place, and then became increasingly popular with her music. She also told the website that music is something she will always take very seriously.

“I’d like to grow with my music,” Selena revealed. “It’s really a passion of mine. I want to have fun with it and make my fans happy with what I sing. I love it and want it to be a part of my life forever.”
