Bio: Thriving Ivory is rock band that originates from Santa Barbara, California although through various line-up changes they eventually relocated to San Francisco — a place they now call home. Their self-titled Wind-up Records debut was released in 2008 and reached #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Much of their first album success was attributed to the hit single, “Angels on the Moon”, a song inspired by the heroics surrounding 9/11.
Thriving Ivory’s follow-up, Through Yourself & Back Again, was released on September 14. The record was a culmination of nearly three years of non-stop touring while doing what they could to also squeeze in studio time. Frontman Clayton Stroope adds that sometimes, the two sort of intertwined. ”Most of the songs were composed in a recording studio we set up in the back of our tour bus over a lengthy period of time,” he remarked.
Their first single off the album, “Where We Belong”, is currently receiving steady airplay. The album is available on iTunes.
Quick Facts: Thriving Ivory was the winner of the 2008 Yahoo! Music: Who’s Next? User’s Choice Competition. They impressively beat out other popular acts such as We The Kings, Shwayze and Mandi Perkins. The band has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Rachael Ray Show and VH1′s You Oughta Know. Clayton Stroope is inspired by other larger-than-life rock stars like Robert Plant, David Lee Roth and Steven Tyler.
